About Us

Hastings Farm is a multi generational dairy farm located in Suffield Ct. Our dairy farm began when our great grandfather diversified the family's tobacco farm by adding a small dairy herd. Our grandfather and father expanded the dairy farm to where it is today. My sister and I are carrying on the family tradition while trying to make it our own. In recent years we have again diversified the farm from strictly dairy production and expanded into natural beef and the processing of our own milk. We have also tried our hand at growing a small amount of produce for our farm store.

Numbering about 250 we have a mix of Holsteins and Jerseys, some Holstein Jersey cross breeds and two Herford cross cows that we milk. Currently we are milking about 115 with the remainder being young stock. The cattle range in age from just shy of 12 years old to only a few days. Our cows are milked twice daily, at 6am and 4pm. We are working slowly toward our goal of milking fewer cows. Stop in often and watch our herd grow. Visitors are always welcome to come meet the cows that make your milk and learn about our farm.

Our retail store that was built in the 2010-2011 winter is open daily from 8am-6:30pm and is where we sell our Natural Beef and Dairy Products as well as a wide variety of other local products.  We want our store to not only benefit us but also the other farms around us.  Seasonally you can find apples and apple cider from Bushy Hill Orchard, jams and jellies from Cupola Hollow Farm, and goats milk soaps and lotions from Butterfield Farm.  As well as eggs, maple syrup, honey, seasonal produce, pork, and fall decorations.  We also carry some hand crafted items such as painted gourds and hand knitted hats.  With a rotating stock of local products stop in often to see what’s new at the farm.
